Terms for the Lydex app, Lydex Stream and this website.

These terms are issued by Lydex Audio Inc. ("we", "us") and cover: the Lydex Android application distributed through Google Play (the "app"), the Lydex Stream server and the plugins we publish, and the Lydex website and community (the "site"). By installing or using any of them you accept these terms.
Purchases made through Google Play are also subject to the Google Play Terms of Service; for the transaction itself — payment, invoicing and tax — Google’s terms govern.
We offer the app as a business — a "trader" in the sense of EU and UK law. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have as a consumer under the mandatory law of where you live.
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use the app on Android devices you own or control, for personal, non-commercial purposes. The app is licensed, not sold; we keep every right not expressly granted here.
You must not:
Every new device gets a free trial of the full app. Its length is the one shown in the app (14 days when these terms were last updated; promotions may run longer). When the trial ends, playback is locked until you unlock the full version; your library, settings and DAC calibration stay exactly as they are.
The trial is per device, recorded by our licensing service under a one-way-hashed device identifier (see the privacy policy). Uninstalling and reinstalling, clearing data or restoring a backup does not start it again. To run the trial the app has to reach our licensing service from time to time, and the install has to pass Google Play’s integrity check; an install that fails it may not be offered a trial. Being offline for a while is fine: the app keeps a signed copy of its current licence.
The full version is a one-time in-app purchase through Google Play. There is no subscription and nothing recurring. The price is the one Google Play shows you in your local currency; Google takes the payment and issues the receipt and any tax.
The unlock is tied to the Google account you were signed in to on Google Play when you bought it. On a new phone or after a reinstall, sign in to Google Play with that same account and the app restores the full version (it needs a network connection once to verify). One purchase covers your own devices signed in to that account; it cannot be moved to another account or sold.
A purchase does not expire. Our licensing service confirms the purchase and the app caches the result on the device, so being offline for a while does not affect you.
Refunds are handled by Google Play under Google’s refund policy, including its short post-purchase refund window and whatever rights the law gives you. If your case falls outside what Google lets you request yourself, email us and we can arrange a refund through Google Play. We suggest using the trial before buying.
Once a purchase is refunded, charged back or otherwise voided by Google, the full version is switched off on the devices it had unlocked.
Redeem codes and unlocks we grant ourselves (review units, support goodwill, promotions) are gifts, not sales: nothing is refundable, and if a code is leaked, resold or abused we may revoke it and the unlocks it produced.
The app plays only files you supply, or content on servers you configure yourself (SMB / FTP / WebDAV / UPnP / Lydex Stream). We do not supply, host or license any music. Making sure you have the rights to what you play is your responsibility.
The app drives USB DACs, and on some devices the built-in DAC, directly, and calibrates its clock per device. We test on as many devices as we can, but cannot guarantee compatibility with every DAC or every Android build — the trial is there so you can confirm yours works before paying.
Exclusive output bypasses the system volume limits. Start low, especially after changing devices or output paths. To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for hearing damage or equipment damage caused by excessive levels.
Some features need a rooted device (built-in DAC passthrough, for example). We neither require nor recommend rooting; those features are offered as-is to users who have already modified their device, and the consequences are theirs.
The app is updated through Google Play. Features may change or be removed, particularly ones that depend on third-party services (artwork and lyrics sources, Last.fm) or on hardware behaviour outside our control. Significant changes are noted in the changelog.
The Lydex Stream server is free and runs on your own hardware; we have no access to your server or library and do not operate it for you. The plugins we publish (DSP effects, streaming sources) are free as well. All of it is provided as-is, without warranty.
Plugins are distributed through this site and GitHub Releases; installing them outside Google Play requires you to allow it, so check the source first. Plugins made by third parties are their authors’ responsibility, and we may remove any plugin from the catalogue at any time.
Register with an email address you actually control. You are responsible for keeping your credentials safe and for activity under your account. If you spot an unfamiliar login, revoke the session and change your password.
One account per person. Bulk or automated registration will be banned.
This is a place to discuss music playback and audio gear. Please do not post: unlawful content, content that infringes others’ rights, advertising or spam, personal attacks or harassment, or other people’s private information.
Do not distribute pirated music files or cracked applications here, and do not ask others for them.
We may remove content, lock topics, and suspend or close accounts. Serious or repeated violations lead to a ban.
You keep the copyright to what you post. By posting you grant us permission to display, store and distribute that content on this site so other users can read it. You can delete your own content at any time.
Only post content you have the right to post. We remove content upon a valid infringement notice.
Support is provided by email and through the community. We read every bug report, but we do not promise a specific response or fix time. Reports with complete device information and reproduction steps get looked at first.
The app, Lydex Stream, the plugins and the site are provided as-is. The site may be interrupted by maintenance, faults or circumstances beyond our control; while the licensing service is briefly unavailable the app keeps using its cached licence. We work to keep everything available and your data safe, but do not guarantee uninterrupted service or that data will never be lost. Keep your own copy of anything important.
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability in connection with the app is limited to the amount you paid for it. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law (such as personal injury caused by negligence) or affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
You can stop using the app at any time by uninstalling it. If you break these terms — by circumventing the licence check, distributing modified builds or reselling redeem codes, for example — we may end your licence and switch off the related unlock, without a refund. Site accounts are handled under "Community rules".
These terms are governed by the law of Ontario, Canada, and disputes go to the courts of Ontario. If you are a consumer in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you keep the protection of the mandatory law of your country and may bring a claim in your local courts.
We update the date on this page when the terms change, and note material changes affecting the app in the changelog. Continuing to use the app or the site means you accept the updated terms. A purchase is governed by the terms in force when it was made; later changes do not reduce what you already have.
