Lydex beta

The beta is the build we are working on right now, delivered through Google Play without waiting for the store's release review. Three steps to join, with a Google account.

What you get

• New features and fixes ahead of the store release. Store releases wait on Google's review; the beta does not.
• Rough edges. A beta build has been tested on our own devices, not on everything out there.
• The same app and the same purchase. Your trial, unlock and library carry over, and updates keep arriving through Google Play.
• Google caps the testing track at 100 members. When it is full, the opt-in page says so.

How to join

Use the same Google account on both pages: the one your phone's Google Play is signed in with.

Join the beta group
Google Play reads its tester list from a Google Group, lydex-beta@lydexplayer.app. Open it and press "Join group". The group sends no mail; it is only the list.

Become a tester
Open the Google Play opt-in page and press "Become a tester". It works once the group membership has gone through, usually within a few minutes.

Update from Google Play
Open Lydex on Google Play. The beta shows up as an update, or as the install if you did not have Lydex yet. Later beta builds arrive the same way.

Leaving the beta

Two steps, because Google Play cannot downgrade an app in place.

Open the opt-in page again and press "Leave the program".
Uninstall Lydex and install it again from Google Play. The store release has a lower version number, so it cannot replace a beta build without this step. Uninstalling clears the app's local data (settings, favourites, play history); the purchase is recovered through the Google account that made it.
